On February 6, 2023, a meeting was held between representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Asian Development Bank. The meeting was organized within the framework of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program.

During the meeting, ADB representatives presented the CAREC Advanced Transit System (CATS) and the Common Information Exchange (CIS). The meeting participants discussed the issue of Turkmenistan's participation in this prototype system.

CATS is a regional transit system that aims to simplify and harmonize transport, trade, and customs regulations and create an efficient, efficient, integrated, and harmonized transit transportation system in the CAREC region. In turn, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan for the development of transit corridors passing through the territory of the country is consistently working on further digitalization of customs procedures.
