On October 12–16, 2026, representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan paid a study visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The event was organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) within the framework of the program "Trade Facilitation in Central Asia / Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor," co-funded by the European Union.
During the visit, delegations from Central Asian countries examined the advanced experience of the Customs Administration of the Netherlands, one of the European Union's leaders in the field of innovation. The program included a meeting at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) to learn about research on data management and the creation of secure trade corridors, as well as visits to the Headquarters of the Customs Administration of the Netherlands and the Port of Rotterdam, where participants explored practical risk analysis systems and modern non-intrusive inspection equipment.
The participants showed particular interest in applied AI-based IT solutions. Specifically, experts demonstrated technologies for automated classification of goods according to the HS Code, document process automation, and the acceleration of customs clearance.
The knowledge and innovative practices gained during the visit will contribute to the further modernization of Turkmenistan's customs system and the facilitation of international trade procedures.
