On June 16, 2022, a working meeting was held at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan with representatives of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime for the countries in Central Asia to strengthen cross-border cooperation. During the meeting, the issue of the further stage of the implementation of the Project to expand regional cross-border cooperation in Central Asia, as well as the Action Plan for 2022-2023, was considered.

The meeting was held in accordance with the Program of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime for the countries in Central Asia for 2022-2025, signed in November 2021. The project aims to increase the capacity of checkpoints by promoting the concept of establishing border cooperation offices and developing information and communication networks for agencies involved in border protection.
