From 8 to 11 July 2025, representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part in a regional workshop organized under the Central Asia and Caucasus Security Project (CCASP) of the World Customs Organization (WCO), with the support of the Government of Japan. The event was held in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan, and brought together customs officials from eight countries in the region.
The aim of the workshop was to strengthen cooperation among Central Asian and Caucasus countries in combating the illicit movement of small arms and light weapons (SALW) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Participants discussed international legal frameworks, modern risk management approaches, interagency cooperation, and shared national experiences. Customs representatives from all eight participating countries, including Turkmenistan, presented their respective national control systems.
The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan considers participation in international initiatives as an important part of its ongoing efforts to improve customs control mechanisms.
