On 7 July 2026, specialists of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan met with international expert Jim Newkirk, engaged by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) within the framework of the Evaluation Field Mission.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of cooperation with UNODC and highlighted the achievements made through joint activities, including the work of Port Control Groups, joint trainings and capacity-building activities, high-level meetings, exchange visits, joint border training exercises, as well as programmes aimed at improving the language skills of specialists.
Particular attention was paid to the prospects for further cooperation with UNODC over the next five years and the identification of new areas of cooperation aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
